I'm not sure why, but for some reasons all avatars have been reset :?
If you want your avatar back just change it in your profile. They do work if you upload it again.

I have tried uploading an avatar several times, but I only get this message every time:

"The attachments upload directory is not writable. Your attachment or avatar cannot be saved."

I fixed the problem
